Trauma Focus
Areas of Focus
Momenta Trauma Solutions is intentionally focused on trauma and the ways it can continue to shape your life long after an experience has ended.
Our work includes both single-event trauma and trauma that develops through repeated or prolonged experiences. Treatment is shaped around your experiences, needs, and goals.
PTSD & Complex Trauma
Trauma does not have to happen repeatedly to have a lasting impact. A single event—such as an accident, assault, natural disaster, sudden loss, or serious medical event—can affect your sense of safety, relationships, emotions, and ability to feel present.
Complex trauma can develop through repeated or prolonged experiences, including abuse, neglect, violence, instability, or other circumstances that make it difficult to feel safe or in control.
Whether your trauma came from one event or many, therapy can help address the ways those experiences continue to affect your life.

Military & Veteran Trauma
Military service can involve experiences that stay with you long after you return home.
Trauma may come from combat, military sexual trauma, loss, moral conflict, leadership or institutional experiences, training-related experiences, or the challenges of transitioning between military and civilian life.
Momenta provides trauma-focused care for service members and veterans navigating the lasting effects of these experiences.

Religious & Spiritual Trauma
Religious or spiritual experiences can have a profound impact when faith, authority, community, or beliefs become connected with fear, shame, control, rejection, or betrayal.
Therapy can provide space to work through the effects of these experiences while allowing you to determine what you want your relationship with faith, spirituality, values, and identity to look like moving forward.

First Responder & Healthcare Trauma
Trauma can accumulate through careers spent responding to emergencies, witnessing suffering, caring for others, or repeatedly being exposed to situations involving injury, death, crisis, and high-stakes decision-making.
This area of focus includes first responders and professionals who support emergency response, such as law enforcement, firefighters, EMS, dispatchers, CSI, and healthcare professionals.
The impact of this work may be immediate, cumulative, or may emerge years later. Therapy can address both specific critical incidents and the effects of repeated exposure over the course of a career.

Institutional Betrayal
Trauma can become especially complicated when the harm, neglect, or failure to protect comes from an institution or system you trusted.
Institutional betrayal may occur within religious organizations, healthcare systems, military settings, workplaces, schools, or other institutions where you expected safety, support, protection, or accountability.
You may have been ignored, dismissed, silenced, blamed, inadequately protected, or harmed by the very system you relied upon. Therapy can provide space to process both the original experience and the additional impact of feeling betrayed by an institution that was supposed to help.

Medical Trauma
Medical experiences can be traumatic—even when treatment was necessary or ultimately successful.
Medical trauma may develop through serious illness, injury, hospitalization, surgery, frightening diagnoses, complications, invasive procedures, loss of bodily autonomy, or experiences of feeling dismissed or powerless within the healthcare system.
The impact can continue long after the medical event itself has ended.

Your experience does not have to fit neatly into one category.
Trauma rarely stays in one box. Experiences can overlap, build upon one another, and affect different parts of your life in different ways.
These areas of focus are intended to help you recognize the kinds of experiences that are within the scope of Momenta's work—not to define or limit your story.
You do not have to know exactly what to call what happened. You just have to know that something has changed the way you experience your life, and you're ready for something to change.
Deeper work. More room for healing.
Momenta provides trauma-focused therapy with room for deeper work, including EMDR, IFS, therapy intensives, and other approaches tailored to your experiences and goals.
