-
Momenta is a trauma-focused therapy practice designed for people who are looking for thoughtful, in-depth support around significant or complex life experiences. We offer focused therapy sessions, therapy intensives, and multi-day therapy intensive packages, allowing the pace and format of therapy to be shaped around the work you are ready to do.
Our approach draws from trauma-informed therapies and evidence-based practices, with an emphasis on creating space for meaningful therapeutic work rather than fitting every person into the same model of care.
-
Momenta is for adults who are looking for focused, trauma-informed therapy to work through significant or complex life experiences. This may include people navigating the effects of trauma, first responder or military experiences, religious trauma, institutional betrayal, moral injury, reproductive or medical trauma, or other experiences that have had a lasting impact on how they feel, function, or relate to themselves and others.
You do not need to have a specific diagnosis or be able to put what you have experienced into a particular category to reach out. What matters is that you are looking for a deeper, focused approach to understanding and working through what has brought you to therapy.
-
Momenta works with a range of experiences that can leave a lasting impact, including single-incident and ongoing trauma, complex life experiences, first responder and military experiences, military sexual trauma, religious trauma, institutional betrayal, moral injury, and trauma related to reproductive health and medical trauma.
You don't have to see your experience reflected in a specific category to reach out. If something has changed how you experience yourself, your relationships, your sense of safety, or the way you move through the world, we can explore whether Momenta is the right fit for the work you want to do.
-
Momenta may be a good fit if you are looking for focused, trauma-informed therapy and want to spend time working more deeply with experiences that continue to affect you. You do not need to have a specific diagnosis or know exactly what kind of therapy you need before reaching out.
Momenta is intentionally focused on trauma and complex life experiences rather than general mental health concerns. If you are unsure whether your needs align with what we offer, you can reach out to discuss your goals and determine whether Momenta is the right fit for you.
-
No. You do not need a trauma diagnosis to work with Momenta. Our work is focused on understanding and addressing the impact of trauma and significant life experiences rather than determining whether you meet criteria for a particular diagnosis.
Momenta does not provide diagnostic evaluations or make diagnosis the focus of therapy. Instead, we focus on what you are experiencing, what has shaped it, and what you want to work toward.
ABOUT MOMENTA
ABOUT THERAPY
-
Therapy at Momenta is focused, collaborative, and shaped around what you want to work on. Sessions are designed to create space for meaningful therapeutic work rather than simply moving from one week to the next without a clear direction.
Your clinician will work with you to understand what you're experiencing, identify what you want to change, and determine which therapeutic approaches and pace make sense for you. Depending on your goals and needs, therapy may include building insight, processing difficult experiences, developing new ways of responding, strengthening emotional regulation, or working through patterns that continue to affect your life.
You will not be expected to move faster than you're ready for. Therapy is a collaborative process, and the focus can evolve as your work progresses.
-
The clinicians with Momenta use a range of trauma-focused therapeutic approaches, including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, somatic approaches, attachment-focused approaches, and other trauma-focused interventions. These approaches can help address the ways trauma and significant life experiences can affect the mind, body, relationships, sense of self, and the way you move through the world.
Your clinician may integrate different approaches based on your goals, needs, experiences, and readiness. Therapy is individualized, and the approach may shift as your work progresses. Additional approaches may be incorporated based on your clinician's training and the work you are doing together.
-
No. You are not expected to tell your entire story or share details you are not ready to discuss. Trauma therapy does not require you to recount every detail of what happened in order for meaningful work to take place.
Your clinician will work with you to identify what is most important to address and will respect your pace throughout the process. You can decide what you share, when you share it, and how much detail feels appropriate as you work together.
-
There is no set timeline for therapy at Momenta. The length of therapy depends on what you are working through, your goals, your circumstances, and the pace that feels clinically appropriate for you.
Some people may come to Momenta with a specific focus they want to address, while others may need more time to work through multiple experiences or patterns. Your clinician will work with you to establish goals, evaluate your progress, and adjust the focus of therapy as your needs change.
Therapy is not about moving as quickly as possible. It is about creating enough space for meaningful work and lasting change.
-
No. Momenta does not prescribe or manage psychiatric medications. Our services are focused on trauma therapy and therapeutic work rather than medication management.
If you currently work with a prescriber, you can continue receiving medication management from them while working with Momenta. When appropriate, your clinician can also coordinate care with other members of your treatment team with your permission.
THERAPY FORMATS
-
Momenta was created to provide trauma-focused therapy without structuring care around insurance requirements. Rather than relying on diagnosis, traditional CPT coding, or insurance-defined treatment limitations, our work is centered on your therapeutic goals and the work you are ready to do.
Our focused therapy sessions are 80–90 minutes, providing more time than a typical therapy hour for meaningful, uninterrupted therapeutic work. We also offer 3-hour therapy intensives and therapy intensive packages for those who want or need additional time and space for focused work.
This model allows therapy to be shaped around the person and the work, rather than fitting the work into the requirements of an insurance-based system.
-
A Focused Therapy Session is an extended 80–90 minute therapy session designed to provide more time for intentional, trauma-focused work. The additional time allows you to explore a specific concern more fully, engage in deeper therapeutic work, and have space for grounding and integration without feeling rushed.
Focused Therapy Sessions can be used as part of ongoing therapy or for a specific area you want to address more intentionally. Depending on your needs and goals, sessions may incorporate EMDR, IFS, CBT, somatic approaches, or other trauma-focused interventions.
-
A therapy intensive is a 3-hour therapy session that provides dedicated time for more concentrated therapeutic work. The extended format allows you and your clinician to spend more uninterrupted time working toward a specific therapeutic goal, processing experiences, or addressing an area of concern.
Therapy intensives use the same trauma-focused approaches available through Momenta, but the extended format creates more space for the work to unfold without being limited by a standard session length. Your clinician will help determine whether an intensive is appropriate for your goals and needs.
-
Momenta offers several ways to structure therapy based on the depth, focus, and time you want to dedicate to your work.
Focused therapy sessions are 80–90 minute sessions designed around a specific therapeutic goal or area of concern. They provide ongoing, focused support while allowing your work to develop over time.
Therapy intensives are 3-hour sessions that provide more uninterrupted time for concentrated therapeutic work. They may be scheduled as a single session or used as part of a larger treatment plan.
Therapy Intensive Packages provide a structured, focused therapeutic experience that includes preparation, the intensive therapy sessions, and follow-up support. Packages may take place over one or multiple consecutive days and include pre- and post-intensive sessions, as well as a workbook to support preparation, reflection, and integration throughout the process.
The format that is right for you depends on your goals, needs, availability, and the type of therapeutic work you are looking to do. You can also move between formats as your needs change.
-
No. Therapy intensives are an option, not a requirement. Momenta offers focused therapy sessions, therapy intensives, and therapy intensive packages so that the format of therapy can be shaped around your goals, needs, and readiness.
You and your clinician can determine which format makes the most sense for the work you want to do, and you can move between formats as your needs change.
-
There is no single format that is right for everyone. The best fit depends on what you want to work on, how much time you have available, the depth and focus of the work, and what feels manageable for you.
Focused therapy sessions may be a good fit when you want ongoing 80–90 minute sessions. A 3-hour therapy intensive may be helpful when you want more uninterrupted time for concentrated work. Therapy Intensive Packages may be a good fit when you want a more structured period of focused therapy, or when finding time for regular appointments is difficult.
You do not have to decide on your own. Your clinician can help you determine which format best fits your goals, needs, availability, and readiness. You can also move between formats as your needs change.
-
Yes. Momenta's therapy formats are designed to work together, and your treatment does not have to stay in one format.
For example, you may begin with multi-day therapy immersion and continue with focused therapy sessions afterward. You may also continue with focused therapy and add a 3-hour therapy intensive when additional time or focused work would be helpful.
Your clinician can help determine when changing or adding a different format makes sense based on your goals, needs, progress, and availability.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
-
No. Momenta is a private-pay practice and does not participate with or bill insurance plans. We also do not provide superbills for insurance reimbursement.
Momenta's services are structured around your therapeutic goals and the work being done in therapy rather than traditional insurance requirements, including diagnostic criteria and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding. Because we do not use the diagnostic and billing structure required for insurance claims, we do not provide documentation for submitting services to insurance for reimbursement.
-
Momenta is a private-pay practice, and fees vary depending on the type and length of service. Focused therapy sessions, extended therapy intensives, and intensive programs each have their own fee structure.
Current fees and available formats are outlined on our Fees & Services page. If you're unsure which format is right for you, we can help you determine what best fits your needs and goals.
-
Yes. Momenta offers virtual therapy for clients who are physically located in states where the treating clinician is licensed to provide services.
Virtual therapy is available for focused therapy sessions, therapy intensives, and select intensive programs. Availability may vary depending on the clinician, service, and location.
-
Momenta currently provides services to clients in Arizona, Colorado, and Wyoming, with availability depending on the clinician and the service being provided.
Because licensing requirements vary by state, you must be physically located in a state where your clinician is licensed at the time of your appointment. As Momenta grows, additional states may become available.
-
We'll review your inquiry and get back to you within 1–2 business days with information about next steps. Depending on what you're looking for, this may include a consultation to learn more about your goals, answer questions, and determine whether Momenta is a good fit for your needs.
If Momenta isn't the right fit, we'll let you know and, when possible, help point you toward a more appropriate resource. Reaching out does not commit you to starting therapy.
-
Your first appointment is an opportunity to slow down, get oriented, and begin understanding what brings you to Momenta. You'll have space to talk about what you're experiencing, what you hope to work on, and what you would like from therapy.
Your clinician will also discuss how therapy works, answer questions, and begin developing a plan for your care. You will not be expected to share every detail of your experiences or begin trauma processing before you are ready.
The first appointment is also a chance for both of us to determine whether Momenta and the therapeutic approach are a good fit for you.
